A Busy Weekend

The renovation job in our house is nearly done, time to move the things back where they belong. It's been a busy weekend. Sorry if I missed dropping back your card this weekend. There were times when I couldn't go online as we packed and moved our desktop too. Happy Sunday.

From the file: Trip to Mutiara Carita - Oct 2007

During the Lebaran 2007 holiday, Evan and family took a vacation to Carita Beach, West Java. They stayed at Mutiara Carita Cottages. It was the first trip to the beach for the 2 year-old boy and he enjoyed it. The beach by the resort itself could not be used for swimming; however, there was a big swimming pool there where Evan spent most of his time playing water.

From the file: Evan's Second Birthday

On his second birthday, Evan already big enough and deserved to know that the exact date of his birthday was on Thursday the 13th instead of on Saturday when his party was being held. Therefore, a small black forest cake was given as an appetizer on his day, while a big chocolate cake with picture of him and the Pooh was kept for the party.







Once again his birthday took place on Ramadhan month, so most of the neighbors were fasting. Kids from the neighborhood and local Sunday school were invited to the party, as well as relatives and friends of the family.

From the file: In Memorial of Opa Edi

On February 23, 2007, little Evan had to say good bye to his grandpa, Opa Edi, for good. It was probably difficult for him to understand why every body was crying on that day. However, a simple, yet truthful, explanation was given to the 17-month old boy that his grandpa had gone to a new house. God bless Opa's soul.

From the file: Christmas Day 2006

Unlike the year before, this time Evan did not mind to wear the Santa’s hat. He also willingly followed the tradition of “Christmas by the tree photo session”. As he was already 15-month young, he deserved to be introduced to another family tradition, which was “the Christmas gifts” and he loved it.

In the afternoon, his cousins visited him and they played together. There was something missing from that year’s Christmas photos though; no picture of Opa. He was in the bedroom the whole time and everybody had forgotten to bring him out to join the day.

From the file: The First Birthday Party

Evan’s first birthday happened to be on the first week of Ramadhan 2006 when most of the neighbors were fasting. However, a small fellowship was still being held at the house. Some relatives and guests came to join the fellowship while others showed up in the evening after their “break the fast” time. A professional photographer was hired to document the event and here are the results.

From the file: The First Christmas

December 25, 2005 was the first Christmas celebration for Evan. He was only 3 months. In the morning, the whole house gathered by the Christmas tree to make our traditional “by the Christmas tree” family photo session. There was no camera on that day, so pictures were taken from a cell-phone.

Little Evan was curious about the lights coming from the Christmas tree. He was quite cooperative during the photo sessions. However, when a Santa’s hat was put on him, he immediately cried, hence only his Oma and Opa ended up wearing it.

The dress code for that day was red. There was a picture of train on Evan’s outfit as if it was the initiation of his fondness toward Thomas the train.

From the file: The Birth of Evan

The story about Evan should begin with this picture. It's a pregnancy test result taken on February 2005. The "plus" sign on it marked the coming of a new family member. Since then, he grew bigger in mom's womb.

Four months pregnant

On September 12, 2005 night Evan's parents went to "Hermina" hospital where his mom was scheduled to have Caesarian Operation the next morning. One shot before she left the house.

Born on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 9:25 AM.

Since then the baby became the center of everybody's attention. Camera was clicked everyday as if he would change that much in a day. Here are video and pictures from Evan's first week.
